Updated information about Trollstigen
A new safety and risk assessment has been carried out by geologists in Trollstigen, which has resulted in a partly closure of Trollstigen the rest of the 2024 season. It has been assessed that the situation in Trollstigen is more unpredictable than before in terms of rockfalls and landslides.
The Trollstigen plateau and Trollstigfoten is open
The section that is closed is between the Isterdalen in Rauma/Åndalsnes and the bends up to the Trollstigen plateau.
- From Valldal: The road will be open from Valldal to the Trollstigen plateau. The cafe and viewpoints at the top will remain open.
- From Åndalsnes: The road is open until Trollstigfoten viewpoint. Trollstigen Gjestegård in Isterdalen will also stay open, from the Åndalsnes side.

Rerouting via Sjøholt (E136) to/from Valldal
Åndalsnes – Sjøholt (E136) – Valldal (fv 650) – Trollstigen plateau (fv 63): 155 km, estimated driving time 2 hours 10 minutes.
From Valldal to Trollstigen plateau: estimated driving time 40 minutes.

All driving, biking and hiking in the closed areas of the Trollstigen road is strictly forbidden.
